Liana, Frieda and Simone

I dropped in to Jack and Marianna's house soon after breakfast, for a cup of tea and a catch-up.
Cautious optimism: Simone is feeding more strongly now, and Marianna looks more relaxed than she did the other day. The midwife will weigh Simone on Monday, and we'll see whether the  intensive breast-feeding routine is paying off.
Otherwise... I had a good, nearly two-hour FaceTime chat with Barbara, my old friend in the US. Both of us found ourselves almost speechless about this weekend's events in Russia. The stakes are so high, the multiple risks so great, the context so heartbreaking (for the population in Russia as well as for Ukraine). After a while, having exchanged thoughts on it all, we moved on to a more lighthearted - and occasionally almost hysterical -  comparison of our various age-related aches and pains.
