The crowded beaches of mid-Sweden

Okay, the title is a bit ironic, though another two families arrived shortly after I took this picture.
This is Åviken, a small bay with two little rivers running out into the sea. That empty beach continues out under the sea, so there is a long shallow area which the sun warms fairly quickly, and the shape of the bay further out stops the wind blowing cold water into this area, so it's great for families with kids.
Us bigger people have to walk out 100 m or so before it's deep enough to swim, and if we swim out further it rapidly cools down!  Anyway it was lovely to see the place again because it must be 10 years since we were last here. It was great to swim in the sea without freezing, as I did a few days back, and the day was warm enough that even after swimming out to the chilly water we quickly warmed up.
After this the day took an unexpected turn and we spent our time shopping and travelling but it all felt relaxed, and almost enjoyable.
This is a place we will return to!
