Solstice sunset

A joy to co-lead a Summer Solstice walk at Westings Meadow with Kathryn last night. We discussed landscape history from the Neolithic to the present day, ecology and what inspires our creativity as we walked through this very special area.

Watching the sun set on the longest day while listening to John Clare's poetry was very special. Turtle Doves, Cuckoos, a Cetti's Warblers and Song Thrushes serenaded us, and as dusk fell Cockchafers whirred over Etton-Maxey NR. A perfect midsummer eve.
