A hot and steamy day spent presenting a training course on orchids for the volunteers of the Langdyke Countryside Trust. After the morning presentation at Torpel Cabin, we headed to Swaddywell to try our hand at identifying them. 

Sadly the recent hot weather meant that very few of the marsh-orchids and their hybrids were still in bloom, but there were plenty of Bee Orchids and Pyramidal Orchids, including several pale forms just blushed with pink. We even found a few relatively fresh Man Orchids to admire.

After two back-to-back sessions of presentations and walks in the heat, I treated myself to a late afternoon relax in the garden...
