At the River Mouth

Remnants from winter storms are still around. This stump will probably be on the beach forever, or until the tides move it again. It’s hard to imagine the force that would carry this thing along. I couldn’t embrace even half of it; I’m guessing it would take at least three people to measure the circumference.  I walked on the actual sand for the first time in a good long while. I love having the sound of the waves in my ear as I go along. There were tons of mussel shells on the shore this morning, their beautiful jeweled linings glowing against the dark wet sand.
