Yellow delight

I find the large yellow female flowers on courgettes really cheerful- they don’t last long but they have done their job and it always amazes me how quickly the courgettes grow. Our recent rain and now warmer weather has certainly helped.

Every year Mrs W , mother of blip friend Peebz, gives me a few plants. Last year slugs ate one so I was determined to avoid this if possible - liberal amounts of crushed dried eggs shells surrounding the plants seems to be working and the extra calcium apparently stops the ends rotting which is another problem I have had in the past.

It is looking hopeful for a good crop this year !
