Cardington Hangars

I passed by the Airship Hangars at Cardington today and noticed that the refurbishment of the second hangar has started. The Grade 2 listed hangars were built around 1915 to construct airships and are absolutely vast; they dominate the area and can be seen for miles around. Apparently, they even have their own micro-climate! The fated R101 was built and took off for it's maiden flight from here before crashing in France and killing 48 of the 54 people aboard.
