Triathlon

Today was the day for the Croyde Triathlon - deemed to be among the toughest due to the Devon hills!
Sadly today, due to sea conditions the contestants weren't allowed to do the swim - they had to do a 2km run on the beach instead! Extra shows h 's 'wave' of contestants on their run.  The main is him powering past another chap who obvs did not enjoy the run, en route to the bike.
Sadly, for some bizarre reason, even though we walked to a good spot to view him on the bike, we totally missed him.  Stood for ages thinking he'd had a puncture/broken chain etc etc but he did not come.  On walking back to the finish we suddenly hear "And who is this? Oh, yes, it is Hamish".  
He was running down the hill to the finish. 
How we missed him we will never know, but we did! 
Getting so old I cant recognise my grandson any longer?  Ooops.  
Thankfully H wasn't too put out.  Thinks he's done well and enjoyed it.  Can't really compare with last year as it is not like for like but his time was 16 min better - might be due to no swim.....
Whoop whoop - results just published  - Hamish won the overall race, won the run on the beach and the triathlon one, even won the Hero of the Hill (run from beach to  bike).  He came 3rd on the bike ride, but overall was first by 3 mins ahead of a Super vet. Very proud of his efforts.
