Lavender Cuckoo Spit

The cuckoo heralds the arrival of spring, and so this white frothy substance which appears on herbaceous plants in spring is also known as cuckoo spit. It is produced by a floghopper insect, and looking closely at the stem on the left one can just see a small bug ... I wonder if it was responsible for the spittle on this lavender plant?
