dictionary day four: polychromatic

polychromatic adj 1 many-coloured 2 (of radiation) containing more than one wavelength

i spent an hour this afternoon wading thru tourists the length of the royal mile from palace to castle and back trying to get a tartan pic for this (enlivened by a bloke playing '99 red balloons' on a ukelele in front of the city chambers), only to load up and discover they were all pants. so here is one i snapped before leaving the house because the light was good, just in case i didn't get something else. eagle-eyed followers of this journal will have seen the subject a few times before, but it's a different take and it fits the brief (if you bend it a little: technically this is many coloured things rather than a many-coloured thing, but i think you'll forgive me?).
