A Monkey's Tale

Evensong at Exeter Cathedral

With us crawling through the door in the wee hours of this morning after a fun & long day at the Wedding, a lie in was much needed today. Jenny wasn't feeling in the best shape for some reason, & she was sensible with her drinking too, so that wasn't particularly nice for her. I on the other hand was far more lucky & awoke refreshed & surprisingly hangover free.

We did the necessary & chilled once we'd finally got up, chowed down some sustenance in the form of croissants & a very welcome cuppa, & watched Hotel Transylvania, a sweet & funny animation.

We then got ourselves together, & with the girls in toe, we set off for Exeter. As Alan & Clare are in London for the weekend seeing Mark Knopfler, we were more than happy to look after the girls. Lauren was to be singing in the choir in Exeter Cathedral for Evensong & so while she warmed up the vocal chords with her fellow singers, Jenny, Susannah & I had a mooch around town. After a short while, we returned to the beautiful Cathedral for 10 to 4 on the dot, ready to see Lauren in action in the service. For my first ever visit to the Cathedral & experience of a service there, it was enjoyable & very interesting.

On our return, whilst Jen prepared her fantastic bolognaise (which the girls had especially requested), Susannah, Mojo & I played in the garden - rounder's bat & ball, & Nerf guns featuring heavily. It wasn't just Mojo that was contently tuckered out by dinner time.

I'd taken some shots in Exeter & of the stunning Cathedral, but with Susannah (left) & Lauren (right) looking so sweet & being kind enough to pose for me, there really was no doubt. They are not the easiest two to pin down in one place for more than about 5 seconds, & Susannah is quite camera shy, so I'm very grateful for their patience!

Another lovely, sunny & relaxing day in Devon.
