Meeting a friend

Cathal told us he's be over from the UK for a few days and wondered if we could meet. First questions was "food or drink?". We settled for food, and an early sit-down because we could only meet on the Saturday and his flight the next day was an early one.

After much head-scratching we booked L'Enoteca di Napoli on Fenian Street. We remembered it from Covid times, but it wasn't great today. Still, we enjoyed the encounter enormously, with lots of things to talk about and lots of reminiscing to do about 'the old times'. Eating ended, the usual to-and -fro followed. Call it a night? Go on somewhere else?

We opted for the Davenport, always a good bet for a quiet drink in pleasant surroundings. Despite the early-morning flight, the two relying on public transport ended up dashing for last-of-the-night trains home. I used my app and hailed a taxi.

The blip? We' has a bit of a tradition when away on holidays. It began in Canada back in 2006 when I took a shine to the fire hydrants there and tended to pose either on or beside then everywhere we went. This one outside the Davenport reminded us of those times.
