Wild Side Of Life

A lot more done today than yesterday. We visited Rheged to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Some stunning photos, but also some very thought provoking images showing the damage man and climate change are wreaking upon the animal kingdom.
I wonder how many owners of the EVs in the car park realise the profound effects the mining of Lithium and Coltan - which are major components of the batteries that power their glorified milk floats - is having on the wildlife and habitat around the mines. Not to mention the exploitation of the local population who toil away in miserable conditions to mine these minerals. Very taken by the photo on the poster (even more stunning when you see it close up in the exhibition) so bought a bookmark with it on as a reminder.
Then it was on to Penrith. I wanted to track down the last book in a series I’d been reading and Mrs C wanted some new trainers. Success on both fronts. While we were in the area, it would have been rude not to call into Cranston’s Food Hall and lots of delicious salady things were duly purchased for tea.
Our return to Kendal incorporated a tour of the local motorway service stations. Tebay to purchase some hand made soaps from the Farm Shop and Killington to have lunch at Macdonalds because we weren’t prepared to pay the prices in the cafe at Tebay!
Finally ended up back in Kendal so Mrs C could complete the trade of her old camera for a new wide angle lens, I could go to the library for more books and we could get a few essential groceries from M&S. Arrived home six hours after we left, somewhat exhausted but with the satisfaction of having achieved everything we set out to do today. It’s not often that happens!
