Life through the lens...

Lunch stop.

The weather was perfect for our walk with the Pudseys. About 20C sunshine and clouds.

We started out at the bottom of Roker Lane, Pudsey. Walked through Cockersdale, under the trees and along the little river. Then across the fields and up to Tong village.
The church yard is one of the best ever. A perfect combination of wild flowers, shrubs and perennials. It was looking gorgeous today.
Two ladies were weeding and dead heading. I told them what a good job they were doing, and how I loved it. I think it is always nice to hear that your hard work is appreciated.
There are several good benches there and it is a perfect place to sit and have our packed lunches. So peaceful. Lovely to have the birds singing along.
The 12th century church was rebuilt by Sir George Tempest, of Tong Hall, in 1727. A church also existed on this site prior to the Norman invasion of 1066.

Then it was back down into the valley and up to New Farnley. We encountered some very frisky and over friendly horses. ( see extra collage) One of our members took some persuading to climb over the stile and walk past them.
We later walked through a field of cows with their young ones. They were quite happy sat chewing cud and weren’t bothered about us walking past.

A lovely walk and only 10 mins. from where we live.
Finished off with tea and cakes sat out in the garden of one of our members who led the walk and live nearby.
Perfect end to a perfect walk. About 7 miles in total.
