Le Tour

An enjoyable afternoon watching the Tour de France and now the tennis.
The cycling along the cobbles looked horrendous. So much dust I’m surprised they could see.

Did you know it was a Yorkshireman from Mirfield, who was the first Briton to finish Le Tour back in 1955. Also the first to win a stage of the tour in 1958.
In 1959 he won the 20th stage from Annecy to Chalon - sur - Saône by 20mins.
Now Brian Robinson is age 91. He was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2017 New Year’s Honours for services to charity and cycling.
A true unsung Yorkshire hero.
