Even though this is more of recording or reporting, I still try to make the most of the image and presentation. This is, I think, a cabbage white butterfly, introduced to the US in 1860 and considered invasive. I have only seen a few this year.

For the longest time its wings were closed and this is as far open as they came. The upper wing surface was blindingly white, reflecting the late sun, and I struggled to get much detail to show there anyway. Its position, about 12' away into the now quite tall prairie plants, made it difficult to get a clear perspective.
