Kroller Muller

At last a nearly summer day - well at least the sun was out even if you still needed a coat on in the wind.

To celebrate we visited the Kroller Muller museum and sculpture park in the Hoge Veluwe National park here in the Netherlands.

Helene Kröller-Müller, (February 11, 1869 - December 14, 1939) was one of the first European women to put together a major art collection.

This includes the biggest private collection of Vincent van Gogh and the Kroller Mullers claim that he became famous largely as a result of their interest and collecting of his works both drawings and paintings. They have recently re opened a major display of his work which was one of the reasons to visit.

There is also an extensive sculpture park, the picture is of a large white stone sculpture set into the grass.

I like the image because of the strong contracts between the very deep dappled shade for the trees in the foreground contrasted with the brilliant white of the sculpture
