Shrewsbury

MONDAY

We checked out of our holiday cottage at 10:00 and headed over to Church Stretton for a look around the shops and breakfast at the award winning Berry's Coffee House.

Then over to Shrewsbury for a look around and more shopping. The town is currently hosting a sculpture trail which includes three sculptures from the  surrealist artist Salvador Dali.

According to the blurb, "The Surrealist Piano is one of Dalí’s major iconoclastic symbols. The artist has chosen to transform the banal wooden legs of a piano, replacing them with dancing female legs, thus creating an animate, joyous instrument that can dance as well as play. Dalí often blurred the lines between the real and surreal worlds, taking an inert and lifeless object, and, with a wave of his magic surrealist wand, created an entirely new fantasmagorical happening".

The surrealist piano is located outside Shrewsbury Castle.

We headed back to North Wales via Llangollen and over the Horseshoe Pass.
