Scary

This morning we got up very early to start the journey to the island of Kalsoy. First came the express bus to Klaksvik, allowing me to finally experience the "jellyfish" sub-sea roundabout - unique in the world! In Klaksvik we grabbed breakfast from a service station, before taking the 20-minute ferry to Kalsoy. There a bus took us through four tunnels and past two villages to Trøllanes. This was the start of the short walk to the iconic Kallur lighthouse. Some may recognise the location from the finale of "No time to Die".

Back in Trøllanes I set off on a famous walk to the next village. The steep hillside to a path round an exposed rocky headland were fine, but then the path contoured a steep slope around a huge corrie 350m above the sea (see extra). Concentrating on every step taken on the wet, earthy path was really tiring, and I was glad to get to the second rocky headland in order to relax. There remained just an easy run down a long, steep grassy slope into Mikladalur. I felt glad to be alive, and it's not a route that I'd repeat!

Soon joined by A, who had taken the bus, we wandered the pretty village (see extra), then chilled until the bus arrived to take us to the ferry.  In Klaksvik, we refuelled on excellent café food, wondering where we can eat like this in Tórshavn.

The tunnel count for today will be at least 14 for A - one fewer for me :D
