A tribute to Mum and Dad

This is a late posting.

We were on parade reasonably early this morning.  We had to get the car to Toyota for a service before we set off on our road trip to Oamaru.  It was booked before we even left on our trip, but when we arrived we were told that it had to be picked up by midday, as the facility was closing early because of the Matariki Public Holiday tomorrow.  It would have been nice if they’d let us know, as it meant MrMacD had to wait for the service to be completed rather than come with me, my sister and brother-in-law, my brother and sister-in-law and my aunt to the cemetery where Mum is buried to unveil the new headstone.  Mum, Dad and our little brother are all buried in the same grave and the new headstone reflects that.  My brother brought some G&T RTDs and I brought two boysenberry Trumpets.  Mum and Dad loved a G&T and Mum loved boysenberry Trumpets.  One of my sister’s daughters-in-law was also there with her two children, so the granddaughter ate one of the Trumpets, we all had a G&T and told our memories of Mum and Dad.  It was rather a lovely half hour.  MrMacD joined us just before we finished, which was nice. Afterwards we all went to the Urban Soul Café in Manukau for lunch.  I managed to arrange the broadband connection and for the modem to be sent to us at the hotel we’re staying at the night before we move in to our new home.

As we arrived at the café we received an email from our solicitor and an email from the real estate agent congratulating us on the fact that the settlement had gone through and we were now homeowners again.

The blip shows the beautiful sunset late this afternoon.
