UNDER CONSTRUCTION

It's cloudy, cold and windy today, so no birds, insects or animals seem to be out and about. On my search for today's blip, I noticed this little guy hard at work making a wasp nest just above the garage side door. It was late in the day so natural lighting was dwindling fast; although without sunshine I wonder if finding him earlier would have made much difference. I asked my husband to hold a flashlight on this scene, but that only created harsh shadows.

I find it amazing that these small beings just plain know how to build such precise structures. For now, instead of destroying this wasp nest before it's inhabited, we've agreed not to disturb it and see what develops. After all, it could be a future blip!
