Snack Bar

An eastern kingbird snacking on the berries of a chokecherry caught my eye today. I did get a shot with a berry in its beak, but the bird was obscured by leaves and I preferred this image silhouetting against the lighter area behind. I read the kingbird is a flycatcher, but it rarely drinks water and relies on fruit and insects for moisture.

Not the most flamboyant, but a first for me and the red berries add some colour, so I decided to post this one.

Extra: Over The Shoulder. A northern flicker hunting insects in a dirt pile.
