Life through the lens...

Sky

Early evening sky for today’s Wide Wednesday’s theme.
A view from our little bedroom window looking towards the distant Pennines.
As always the evenings have been the best part of the day.

A visit to Pinderfields Hospital at lunchtime for MrC to have his eye injection.
Not a good journey on East on the M62 going, but much better heading back going West.
The road works seem to be never ending. If anything getting worse not better.

However all went well at the hospital and he was called in only 10mins after his appointed time.
His eye feels a bit uncomfortable at the moment but usually that eases by morning.

Back home I decided to bake some buns. Took 3/4 of an hour before I found my mum’s recipe as it is on a piece of paper which was among numerous other recipe collections and books.
I really must sort them all out.
Although buns my mum always called them ‘ ‘Queen cakes’. No idea why. The recipe contains sultanas and glacé cherries, and requires the eggs to be separated and the whites whisked into a soft meringue before mixing in.
They are very light, and ‘ moorish’. Won’t last long. We have already eaten 4.
See extra photo.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow’s weather as we are out walking with the a Pudseys. Think it might be sunshine and showers again.
