"Glasgow smiles better..."

If one building can be said to sum up the new Glasgow that arose out of its industrial decline then it is this one- Princes Square (without an apostrophe). Before 1986 this was an open cobbled square with a very narrow entrance onto Buchanan Street. The only notable feature of the square was the large RAF roundel that identified the recruiting office for that service.

In 1986 work began creating this enclosed shopping mall with the emphasis on high end retail outlets and it has proved quite a success. Glaswegians are notoriously keen shoppers and quite stylish in their own way hence the success.

Today, at lunchtime, the place was buzzing.
