Scent from Heaven.

The first flower has opened today on our new climbing rose. Just in time for Flower Friday.

‘ Scent from Heaven’ was voted Rose of the Year 2017. As you can guess from the name it has a powerful perfume, but as yet I haven’t got close enough to smell it. Unfortunately my sense of smell isn’t very good now.
I planted it as a bare root plant earlier this year, to replace the ivy, and hopefully will soon cover the new fence.

A sad day as another of the old time great singers died today.
Tony Bennett has been suffering with Alzheimer’s for a few years and passed away aged 96.
Our favourite song of many he recorded is
‘ The Good Life’ 1963. When MrC and I were ‘ courting ‘. Now that’s an old fashioned word!
It’s nice that some of the old Rock and Rollers are now singing some of these old classics once again.
