Stirling’s oldest pub and “ghostbots”

Trying to park in the area of Stirling castle during the summer tourist season is a nightmare, something I had a reminder of this afternoon when I had to attend a meeting up at the Tolbooth.

Finally I found a space opposite the Settle Inn, the town’s oldest pub.

Built in 1733 it is popular with locals and tourists alike for it offers a taste of a world long gone with some modern comforts thrown in and it features in the regular ghost walks, a popular tourist attraction. Legend has it all sorts of apparitions have been seen there over the years.

Fast-forward to the 21st century and another “ghost” has entered our lexicon, one I heard for the first time today: “ghostbots”.

Apparently there is increasing concern after you die unscrupulous people mine your social media data and use your identity to create posts.

So in the light of this recent trend of “ghostbotting” there is a trend to include a clause in wills “ do not bot me” in an attempt to preserve your digital assets after death.
