The accidental finding

Barbie day

L to R: V, me and K.
K is visiting from Germany. She arrived yesterday and managed to persuade me that Barbie is a feminist movie that we should see together. She does have a 13 year old daughter who will be joining her next week, but she wanted to see it with adults first.

We had a glorious day: K slept in while I did some work, then Steve took on a scenic drive up to Bisley and the farm shop at Stancombe Beech, followed by Waitrose (!). After a cup of tea, we drove down to the Leisure centre, where we parked and walked over Callowell fields then back to the woodland area of Stratford Park. We had an ice cream in the park while a brass band played in the bandstand (very British!) Then V joined us at the museum. There was a new exhibition of quilts which we checked out. I was amused to see that there was a Vale of Leven quilt. Isn't that a hospital?

Had tea in the restored walled garden, then walked back to the cars. At this point we realised that we could still go and see Barbie because there were no less than twelve showings today. Got tickets , then went for another walk, this time around Stroud's historic quarter, because K had never seen it, despite having been in Stroud several times before. Returned to cinema, watched the film (what a blast!) then V went off and K and I returned home, where Steve had cooked dinner for us. We also managed to sort out one of K's banking problems online. She has not visited the UK for over three years, because of CoVid.

I didn't even know that it was possible to pack so much into one day, or to laugh so much.
