The Marquee has arrived.......

This is a really poor photo taken with my very old phone but the title of the blip is the same as the words I uttered when I passed in the car and what I announced to all when I got home.

It is a sign that the Marches will soon be in Linlithgow. The Marches take place the first Tuesday after the second Thursday in June and are an all day boundary marking event. It is a very local holiday. We have floats, brass bands, a procession, shows in the Tesco car park and for those of a certain age - lots of drink. It is a real community event especially if it is a nice day as people get dressed up and take picnics and line the streets for the parade. On either side of this date there are numerous events taking place including the Round Table Fund Day, the local Children's gala day, Ladies night at the marquee, the fashion show, etc. The Marquee is based at the Rugby club and hosts a lot of the community events - so its arrival is like the first swallow of spring! The next step should be the flags/bunting going up.
