Trees, wheat, clouds...

A long, hot day of fieldwork in and around a brick pit west of Leicester. I hate driving through Leicester - although I negotiated it successfully on the way out, there were no directions for the A47 to Peterborough on the return journey, and I made a wrong turn and ended up heading towwards Nottingham! In the end I came back the scenic way via Melton Mowbray and Oakham.

I took minimal camera equipment to save on weight, and didn't really have any spare time anyway. I quite liked the simplicity of these two aged oak trees, the last remnants of a hedge that would have once divided this very large and sterile arable field. So much less wildlife value than yesterday's chalk quarry!
