Moving in day

I had a good sleep last night and enjoyed a bowl of porridge for breakfast. Then we grabbed our two little bags and drove to our new home. We hadn’t been there long when the removal truck arrived and the chaps started bringing in the boxes. We did our best to empty as many as possible before they finished so they could take them away, but there are still a lot of boxes left to unpack. When they’re empty we just need to call and they’ll come and collect them.

The lovely blipper, Mima, turned up trumps again today and helped unpack a huge number of kitchen boxes, which I did my best to find a home for. Such a huge help and so very much appreciated. Mima’s friend, A, also made an appearance - to introduce herself and drop off a container of chicken soup and some cheese rolls. As I said yesterday, friends like Mima (and A) are priceless. We feel at home in Oamaru already.

We had the chicken soup and cheese rolls for supper followed by a glass of Pinot Noir, courtesy of the real estate agent, and some chocolate. Our bed is made up ready for our first night in our new home.

Tomorrow is another day and who knows what we might achieve. Hopefully, my voice will have returned and I’ll start to feel a whole lot better.

Mima’s beautiful dog, Bean, came with her today to supervise the unpacking. It was such hard work that she needed a rest under her duvet. With Mima’s permission, Bean is my blip today.
