horns of wilmington's cow

Dustbath

Time for a bit of a spruce up.

The other chicken has gone ridiculously broody (it's been about a week and a half so far). There's no egg to sit on and we've tried the time-honoured method of locking her out of the chicken house (in the run) during the day, but she's just nesting within the run instead.

Might be time to employ the other method. Dunking her bottom half in water. It cools them down, and also makes it a little more uncomfortable for a short while to bed down - it breaks the cycle so that by the time she's dried off the desire to nest is gone.

That's the theory...

In the meantime she's just complaining all the time at being outside, flapping her wings, not letting either of us near her, and fluffing up constantly... In a flap
