That Will Do!

Goldcrest

After completing business in town, followed by coffee in the Undercroft Café, we continued to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery on Queen Street.

I took few photos, all on the phone, of those that impressed me today.
Main photo: an extract from oil on canvas portrait of poet and novelist John Burnside (1955-) by Alan J Lawson in 2016. Not having read his work I don't know the significance of the goldcrests perched on his hand and shoulder, just found them particularly charming. Full picture as extra 1. This is not the first time that I have focussed on a particular feature in a portrait and was pleased to revisit that too.

Extra 2 is of the stained glass panel of the Arms of Mary, Queen of Scots, in the foyer. The lighting was too good to ignore.

We felt information overload after completing the second floor and are reserving the third floor for another visit.

NB, we were not aware of any vandalism to the portrait of King Charles, noting only the updated title from that of Prince. It was in perfect condition when we saw it, which was before 2pm.
