Penguin Droppings

Photo-Bomber

This hoverfly decided to get in on the act when I was photographing this large white butterfly, Pieris brassicae, on a thistle this afternoon.

I saw lots of white butterflies but only two of them stopped close enough and for long enough to be identified.  The other was a green-veined white.
There were also many meadow browns, a couple of ringlets and a single red admiral. All along the verges of about a mile of country lane.
