Wound up in Wexford

Ailsa Craig

The rather spectacular view from the window of our B&B room just outside Girvan.

We're on our way to Tain, and decided that, whilst theoretically possible to do the trip in one day, it was just too far to be comfortable.  So we had a sensibly early start and a pleasant drive up to Belfast - we took mainly motorways, but avoided Dublin, which involved some quite interesting minor roads.  We had time for lunch whilst recharging the car just south of the border with Northern Ireland.

Arrived in plenty of time for our 1530 ferry and after a flat crossing drove a short distance up the rather lovely coast road to this B&B.  We arrived here at 7pm.  The view across to Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran is wonderful.  Wikipedia tells me Ailsa Craig is 16km offshore, and 4km in circumference.  It feels much closer!
