Brian's Bits

By Kanyl

You is an exception? - WRONG!

Yew is an exception? - Right.
From time to time I sneak into their space under the horizontal Cedar "Trunk".  NOT a Branch, the growing, weeping, point was trained horizontally. Blame Alice, who got the idea from one of the "Blooms of Bressingham" via TV.
This time I peered into the centre of the Yew.  "Sunday name" - Taxus baccata fastigiata 'Standishii' where I spotted evidence that, unlike many Conifers (Which I personally can't see Yew as a conifer anyway) it will grow fresh growth from long ago set brown wood; unlike many of the cypress.  Which I take to mean I can cut it hard back with impunity; not that I necessarily will.
