Cauliflower slime

Another day of continuous light rain. I found two slime moulds in the woods on dead beech. I believe this one is the False Puffball or Cauliflower slime mould (Reticularia lycoperdon or Enteridium lycoperdon). It is about the size of a golf ball but has yet to develop the pale coloured thin papery skin which is the state I'm more familiar with. Its a bit unusual to see it at this time of year but it has been so wet and cool that conditions may have been just right for it to develop.
