Golden Cherries

These are my favourite variety of cherry tomato, tasty and sweet, and we finally have a few more to pick, though the absence of sun recently means they are less sweet than usual.

I supported J with art talk, which had stayed with the fairy story theme for a second week. J wanted to talk about Lotte Reiniger's beautiful cut out silhouette animations, the earliest of which date from the 1920s and are one of J's animation inspirations, so she had chosen a few clips to share and prepared some information; she also chose some illustrations and a beautiful Russian animation of the Little Mermaid story from the 1960s, very stylised and colourful. This was followed by a hasty lunch and then J's dental checkup in Canterbury.

By lunchtime we had persistent rain and strong gusts of wind, so my hope of a late afternoon walk dissolved. I just crossed the deck to the greenhouse to pick tomatoes for Thursday's picnic.
