Nicky and her Nikon

Our last day

Last night it rained throughout the night, and today the forecast was for more rain. The clouds were low over the mountain when we woke up and they have not lifted all day, but it has stayed dry and we did not have the rain that was forecast. When there was a slight lifting of the clouds we saw that fresh snow had fallen on the peaks.

This morning we met friends for coffee in the village at our favourite cafe. They used to live in Zurich and holiday here, but now live here permanently, although they are originally from South Africa but have not lived there in decades.

As we are going home tomorrow Xena had her pre-travel vet appointment - as is required by Defra (The UK department for environment, food and rural affairs). The pet has to have certain checks by a vet within 5 days of travelling back into the UK, and her pet passport has to be signed off and stamped by the vet giving the date and time, as exactly 5 x 24 hours is allowed but not less than 24 hours. This is then checked when we come back into the UK.

In the afternoon we went for another long walk up the valley, and after all that rain last night the river was flowing very strongly as can be seen in this image. The extra is of the water reservoir in the village.

We are now busy packing up and plan to have an early start, we want to leave by 5am.
