Around Faro

We made our way to the Marina, which is the focal point in Faro, stopping for brunch on the way.

We’d earlier noticed a rather slick-looking tourist train passing by and thought we might try it ourselves. We did that today, but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Often, we find these tourist train/buses a great way to get a feel for a new place and tick off some spots that might be worth returning to, but that wasn’t the case this time, unfortunately.

When the train returned to the Marina we went across to a place that described itself as a pizzeria for a drink or two, rather fancied their menu and stayed on for another bite to eat.

Later on, we ended the day in an area Carl assured me we’d also been to on the very first night of this Portuguese adventure. My sense of direction is so bad that I just had to take his word for it.

One final word about Faro: The town is very close to the airport, which is a busy one that serves all of the Algarve and is directly under the flight path. Flights take off at 15-minute intervals during the day, so it gets very noisy.
