Sluice gate and paddle

Yesterday F and I went for a walk along a non navigable stretch of the Montgomery Canal near Four Crosses. We always like these wild sections as there is no disturbance by boats.

My blip is of a sluice gate and paddle mechanism which are for controlling the water depth.

We saw a pair of swans with six cygnets, a flock of goldcrests and a cormorant.  There were also lots of gatekeeper butterflies, meadow browns and plenty of whites.
