The avenue

We're very proud of our tree plantation which must now be about 7-8yrs old.  To those blippers living in a less windy and milder climate these smallish specimens (mostly various types of Willow here, but we've Swedish Alder, Sycamore, Hazel, Rowan, Field Maple, Hazel, Hawthorn and Dogwood snuggled in too in various places) won't be that impressive but they deserve a medal for surviving, and actually now thriving. I tried to get through the thicket down our little access paths earlier in the year but the growth has become too thick in places, which is exactly what we'd hoped. With luck it'll provide some shelter for more little birds too.

Today has been the usual post-holiday washing etc. I've not stirred from the house other than to pick some sweet peas from the polycrub which are now perfuming the living area.

We've had a sheep incursion whilst we've been away which revealed itself to be a ewe and her two large lambs this morning. We noticed droppings in the garden when we arrived home - not very subtle of them! Fortunately no damage has been done (our garden isn't very pristine anyway!).  I hope they find their way home.

The evenings are drawing in. It's 9:30 and the sun went down behind the hill a while ago.  Time to start planning for the autumn and winter I think.
