Eda’s flower pot jellyfish …

..and visit to the Five Rise locks.

We got the bus to Bingley this morning. Works  on the White Horse on the old Main Street have caused chaos with it’s one way traffic light system over Ireland Bridge so we thought the bus might be best rather than trying to park by the church. Eda’s only complaint was that the journey wasn’t far enough and could we go further on the way back!

We walked across to the Leeds - Liverpool canal and along to the Five Rise Locks. Sadly there were no boats going through but of course we went to the cafe for coffee and ice cream for Eda.

It was really hot so we sat inside which pleased Eda as there is a whole wall of dog pictures.

Took a closer look at the locks on the way back down and tried to explain how they worked. Two lock keepers at the bottom said there were three barges on their way. We thought we might catch them at the Three Rise locks on the route back to town.
We soon met two that had just come through but as we got to the Three Rise locks one was just setting off so we were able to stop and watch as it entered the first lock and, with the lock keepers work, the water brought it up.

Bus back home for lunch and then Chris offered to take Eda to the park as there were some activities taking place. No, she wanted to do some flower pot creativity that we had discussed earlier. I’d got various materials out and asked her to go and chose a plant pot from Boppa. We’d seen an aquarium yesterday with flowerpot jelly fishes and talked about how we could do them but she completely floored us by saying she wanted a squirrel!

We really didn’t think we had the resources to join the flowerpots to make a squirrel so she finished off some bead art we started at breakfast and thought about it, deciding she would go with plan A.  Chris drilled the holes and put some wires in and Eda supplied the pipe cleaners twists to her own design.

Jumping jellyfish that was a bit tricky but I think she was happy with it in the end!

We had a face time with Grace last night. They had been expecting a reviewer at their performance and when she arrived she refused to stay saying the seats were uncomfortable. They offered to get her some cushions but she was very rude and left without even seeing the show. Sad for the lady who has put all the effort in writing and directing it and the performers !
