A day in the life

Kalmar festival, a four day long annual festival of food, music and culture in general has started. It began yesterday with the international, and national food festival. The city park is packed with wagons and stands with food from all over the world. The weather was not nice yesterday but still a lot of people were there to try the various cultural specialities. Today, the music festival started, several stages offering free music on the councils account. Unknown artists as well as the best of Swedens artists are here and also several artists from other countries as well.

Eva and me played at the stage outside the city library or, we should have. The weather is still dodgy with drizzle and cold winds so we moved indoors, which probably gave us a much better crowd than we would if we performed outside in the cold rain. Some 25 people found their way to our small performance around one of our important poets, Gustaf Fröding, who was active around 1900. His poetry still feels "modern" in a timeless sort of way. His questions and themes are the same as we deal with today and his writing about environment and womens liberation feels very up to date. The audience is all our age though, some youngsters were present but they belonged to the library staff and  had to be there anyway. They, and the audience was very pleased about the performance and so was Eva and myself.
The day ended with an improvised sauna and dinner at some friends. Now I'm knackered and need a bed very soon.
