The Druids Hall

According to its blue plaque, the building was erected in 1846 for the Ancient Order of Druids' Friendly Society. From 1849 until 1860 it was a Methodist chapel. After that it was used by various organisations, until 1917 when it was acquired and renovated by the Holme Valley Masonic Lodge for its own use. Apparently the Masons still meet there every month.

Nipped in to town this afternoon to pick another newly mended item from the jeweller, and to pay for the shoes I brought home several days ago. Strangely, the shop's card machine declined authorisation for another of my cards, but condescendingly accepted payment from a third. As the first card has since been 'authorised' elsewhere, I suspect that the problem with the shop's card reader, not my cards!

Still ominous silence from the solicitor about the sale of the flat.
