Wound up in Wexford

New shelving unit

Despite the promise of last night's sky, today dawned wet.  It rained till about 11.00, since then it has faired up, though with occasional heavy showers.  So we had another indoors day.

Plywood is ludicrously expensive these days.  The furniture constructed by W for our study in Norfolk (and which has travelled with us) was made from posh birch ply.  That is now a stupid price.  This unit was constructed from cheaper plywood, and W was frustrated at times with how much it splinters when cutting it.

But he has produced a highly functional, made to measure unit for the printer, and our ridiculous paper glut.  We have enough paper to stock a small shop!  When we combined our households, I had just bought a box of 5 reams of computer paper - it was on some sort of special.  I also had a few packs of coloured paper.  W had ordinary paper, special thick business paper, large stock of different coloured paper - much of it bought when he was self-employed.  We are gradually using the white paper - the extra thick stuff is ideal for printing music.

Apart from helping W with putting this together and fastening it to the wall, I've been in the sewing room.

This evening we started the process of planning what to do with the other front lawn - a pond and a mound with a retaining wall.  A visit from the couple who run Natural Landscapers was encouraging, and they will put together some suggestions.  But they're busy, not likely to be able to start this year.
