Capturing my Journey

Alpine Lake

We found a great wee spot to get some breakfast and fuel up the truck before heading into waterton park for the day. Today was a long hike to an Alpine Lake. Breagh set a nice steady pace for us all and we actually hiked most of the trail in an area not burned in the wildfire. The lake was lovely. Our friends continued on to another lake higher up but we knew we had already hiked pretty far for 14 Yr old Duke and post stroke Breagh. 5.35miles total and I couldn't believe how good Breagh looked after it. Never could have imagined she would have managed that a couple of months ago.

We headed back into waterton town and found a lovely quiet cafe for a nice cup of tea and coffee and homemade fresh sandwiches. Town was much busier due to it being the weekend do we appreciated a quiet corner to relax.

Our friends returned and we headed out to Cameron Lake to try paddle boarding. It was cooler and a good breeze so the dogs got time to relax while we hired a paddle board each and headed out on the lake. No paddle boarding pics from today I was worried about falling in! Actually really enjoyed it and the view at the lake was amazing. We then fed the dogs and gave them a stretch before heading back to town for dinner. Apparently the power was fluctuation they think due to the amount of people but the restaurant we booked had back up generator so we were good there. A lovely meal followed by a wee stroll then we headed back out to camp at the same spot we did the night before.

“A lake is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.”-Henry David Thoreau
