Feed me...?

After Ruth and Eben cut the grass yesterday, the local blackbird family was quick to start hunting for worms this morning.  They won't forage like this when the grass is long, I guess they don't feel safe without a clear view of potential predators.
Mum and Dad got busy. Their teenager, however, was holding out to be fed, in his/her favourite spot on a convenient stone wall.  But M and D held firm, and eventually the youngster came down and started hunting around too. It's lovely watching them all.
Later R and I took Eben to his weekly drum lesson.  This week he had actually practised a bit - without being prompted - and with luck he'll have felt the benefit. I still had to persuade him, however, that turning up to a drum lesson in his favourite wellies wasn't the best idea.  Eben finds it hard to back down, usually, but this time he gracefully accepted my points about needing to feel the bass drum and hi hat pedals properly.
