WINDERMERE

The weather looked reasonable this morning so G and I decided to go the Windermere Jetty Museum as we haven't been for a few years.  We arrived just as they were opening so it was lovely and quiet.

We went into the café first just for coffee and some Borrowdale Tea Bread between us.  This was the view out of the window so a lovely setting.  Those of you that are local will know this very well.

By this time it had started to get busier but not too bad.  We decided not to go on the little boat around the lake today but just went around the museum.  They have a thing about Lego in there at the moment with a huge display of the Lake District made entirely out of Lego, very impressive.  This also means that they little Lego people dotted around the place for children (and us) to find.

It was interesting and I'd forgotten what there was to see so it was good to see it again.

After that we then left trying to think of somewhere to go for lunch.  As we neared the Storrs Hall Hotel we decided we would go there as we hadn't been for ages.  It's very quiet a bit luxurious and you can have a walk around the grounds afterwards.  A little expensive I suppose but then they have great facilities, quietness, a table looking out over the lake and great service.  We only had a small open sandwich each and a cold drink, which was very nice and just enough for what we wanted.

Then a walk through the grounds, down to the shore of the lake. over to The Temple of Heroes and back again. Info below is from The Storrs Hall website.

TEMPLE OF HEROES – A HIDDEN GEM IN THE GROUNDS OF STORRS HALL
Hidden away the grounds of Storrs Hall is an amazing building called the Temple of Heroes. When we say in the grounds it is actually built out into the lake and is the perfect spot to take stunning photographs of Lake Windermere!

It was built in the late 1700s to commemorate four navy admirals, hence the name Temple of Heroes and is now in the ownership of the National Trust.
When we got home it all happened.  The phone didn't stop ringing.  Not only does Hubby have an appointment in Barrow for an ECG for his heart mid September, he now has a Pre-Op Assessment in Preston next week for his lungs.  No idea where it Preston Hospital is but we will find it and leave plenty of time to get there.
Anyway that is all from me for today.  I will develop my photos as soon as I can.  All three of us are going to Penrith tomorrow for a pootle,  G to a secondhand bookshop, Hubby and I to St Andrew's church afterwards, partly for my project and partly to find the Giant's Grave.

Do take care all, sorry for the lengthy blip.  See you all soon.
