The two psychiatrists I was asked to cover this week both turned up this morning. One said she has been working Tuesday Thursday Friday for months, and is not taking leave this month. The other may have altered his plans. He is going to be away tomorrow and Thursday, and I will be needed to cover their absences.

An early finish this afternoon, meant that i could have a walk along the Lower Pipeline. The duck (a mallard showing little evidence of hybridism with the Parera) hurried the ducklings off the path and into the undergrowth, and then got them to stay still.

The Parera (also called Grey Duck) do mate with mallards, producing hybrids. Apparently a 'pure' parera is rare in Auckland. Mallards are called Rakiraki, (onomatopoeic)
