Redux

Back to the colourful university campus for another day of meetings, interspersed with a short walk at lunchtime with my colleagues.

We finished a little earlier than yesterday and had a little longer before dinner, so at my instigation we walked back into the centre. It was a pleasant walk, initially through a forest, then a park, then round a few corners through a college campus until we reached the 1912 Olympic Stadium, which is an interesting stone building which is still in use. After that, we basically followed the routes we took yesterday evening.

Later on, we headed out again for a dinner at Restaurant Grodan, which is a Stockholm classic (after the somewhat more hipsterish Hantverket yesterday). We concluded a long (and very walk-some) day with a wander along the waterfront and a rather pricey Belgian beer in a well stocked bar.

Pleased to have managed to do quite a lot of walking around to see the city, despite being very busy (hence no time for journals at all). I hadn't realised before I got here that the terror alert was very high in Sweden after Koran burnings, and indeed the Foreign Office had advised caution on travel here. Anyway, pleased to have stayed out of the metro, which is probably one of the places which might be thought of as a potential attack location.
